space probe
The only probe to have visited Uranus and Neptune.
Launched on August 20, 1977, two weeks before Voyager 1.
It followed the 'Grand Tour' trajectory, exploiting a rare planetary alignment to visit all four giant planets.
It crossed the heliopause into interstellar space in 2018, six years after Voyager 1.
It carries the same Golden Record as Voyager 1.
The only spacecraft to have flown past all four giant planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune).
In 2023 an incorrect command temporarily severed contact with Earth, but NASA successfully restored communication.
