moon
Dust knocked off Thebe by impacts feeds one component of Jupiter's outer, so called gossamer ring, forming its thicker, more tilted part because Thebe's orbit is more inclined than Amalthea's.
Discovered in 1980 by the Voyager science team from images taken by Voyager 1.
Jupiter's seventh largest satellite, with a mean radius of about 49 km.
Follows a prograde, nearly circular orbit in Jupiter's equatorial plane, alongside three other inner moons.
