lunar module Orion
The lunar module that landed in the Descartes Highlands, one of the Moon’s highland regions.
The lunar module Orion touched down on April 21, 1972 at 02:23 GMT (Descartes Highlands), carrying John Young and Charles Duke.
The two astronauts spent 71 h 2 min on the surface, 20 h 14 min of it outside the lunar module.
They brought 95.7 kg of lunar rock and soil back to Earth.
On their moonwalks they covered about 27 km in total.
The ascent stage returned to the command module waiting in lunar orbit; the descent stage still stands at the landing site.
