Privacy Policy

1. Who is the data controller?

The data controller is Tamás Perencz, the operator of perencz.hu (operator details: see the Imprint). Contact: info@perencz.hu.

2. What data do we process, and why?

Google Analytics (GA4): loaded ONLY after your explicit consent (the "Accept" button on the cookie banner at the bottom of the page) - before that, no Google script runs and no cookie is set. Once accepted, it measures page views, your approximate (country/city-level) location and device/browser type, retained per Google's own settings. Consent can be withdrawn at any time (see below). Legal basis: consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

IP-based approximate location: for the "your approximate location" marker in the 3D Solar System view, on every visit we automatically look up your approximate (city-level) position from a third-party service (geojs.io) based on your IP address, and cache the response in your browser's local storage (localStorage) for 24 hours. This is NOT a cookie, just data stored on your own device that we do not forward elsewhere. Legal basis: legitimate interest (displaying this feature) - if you would rather this not run, you can disable JavaScript for this site in your browser, or let us know and we will consider adding an opt-out toggle.

Other features of the 3D scene (upcoming-launch calendar, live satellite orbits, live cloud imagery, place-name search) call public, keyless APIs (e.g. The Space Devs, CelesTrak, NASA GIBS, OpenStreetMap Nominatim). These calls do not send any personal data about you, but as with any network request, your IP address reaches that (non-affiliated) provider - this is an inherent part of browsing, not targeted data collection.

Local storage: your theme (light/dark), language, 3D-view layer toggles, and the Playground (PHP experiments) demo states are stored only on your own device, never sent anywhere, and are not personal data.

Contact: the Contact page simply opens a "mailto:" link - the site itself does not collect, store or transmit any form data. The email you send is handled by your own and our mail systems, which this policy does not cover.

3. Cookies and withdrawing consent

The only marketing/statistics cookie is set by Google Analytics, and only after acceptance. Your decision (accepted/declined) is remembered in your browser's local storage (localStorage), so you are not asked again on every visit. You can change your choice at any time with the button below.

4. Data transfers

If Google Analytics is accepted, the data is processed on Google's infrastructure, which may involve servers outside the European Union - Google does this under its own EU-approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). No other data transfer takes place.

5. Your rights as a data subject

Under the GDPR you have the right to request information about the data we process, request its correction or deletion, object to the processing, and withdraw your consent at any time (this does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal). You can send such a request to info@perencz.hu.

If you believe our data processing is unlawful, you may lodge a complaint with the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH): 1055 Budapest, Falk Miksa utca 9-11., Hungary, ugyfelszolgalat@naih.hu, naih.hu.

6. Changes to this policy

This policy is updated whenever the site's actual operation changes. This document does not constitute legal advice - it is an accurate description of the site's actual technical operation, verified as described above.
