Mars lander
A geophysics lander that studied the deep interior of Mars; its mission ended in December 2022.
It landed in western Elysium Planitia on November 26, 2018.
Its landed mass was 360 kg; two solar arrays, each 2.2 meters in diameter, powered it, for a total span of about 6 meters.
Its main instrument, the six-component SEIS seismometer, recorded marsquakes, while the RISE experiment used its radio link to study the planet’s rotation and interior.
The self-hammering “mole” of the HP3 heat-flow probe reached only about 40 cm instead of the planned 5 meters or so.
Its last transmission was received on December 15, 2022, and NASA declared the mission over on December 21.
