asteroid (4 Vesta)
The second most massive body in the asteroid belt; NASA's Dawn orbited it in 2011-2012.
Discovered by Heinrich Wilhelm Olbers in 1807.
The Rheasilvia basin at its south pole is nearly as wide as the asteroid itself, with one of the tallest mountains in the Solar System at its center.
Some meteorites found on Earth (the HED meteorites) come from Vesta, debris of an ancient impact.
Dawn orbited it from July 15, 2011 to September 4, 2012, the first orbit around a main-belt asteroid.
