Mars lander
Viking 1’s twin, which operated on Utopia Planitia for 1281 Mars days.
It touched down on Utopia Planitia on September 3, 1976, at 22:58 UT, about 200 km west of the crater Mie.
One of its legs came to rest on a rock, leaving it tilted at 8.2 degrees.
Its science payload had a mass of about 91 kg, and two 30 W RTGs powered it.
Its batteries failed on April 11, 1980, ending the mission.
