Mars helicopter
The first aircraft to make a powered, controlled flight on another planet.
It landed attached to Perseverance’s belly on February 18, 2021, and was set down on the surface on April 3, 2021, after the rover drove about 4 meters away.
Its first flight was on April 19, 2021; its 72nd and final flight was on January 18, 2024.
It has a mass of 1.8 kg, and its rotors span about 1.2 meters tip to tip.
In total it flew 128.8 minutes, covered 17.0 km and climbed as high as 24 meters.
NASA announced the end of the mission on January 25, 2024; the helicopter remains in Jezero Crater.
