ESA's dark matter and dark energy mapping mission: since 2023 it has been surveying a third of the sky, charting the shapes and distances of 1.5 billion galaxies.
Launched in July 2023 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
Its goal is to build a 3D map of the Universe's large-scale structure to better understand the nature of dark matter and dark energy.
Its mission is planned to run through 2030.
It is named after the ancient Greek mathematician Euclid, one of the founders of geometry.
Over its 6-year primary mission it will map about a third of the sky, avoiding the bright plane of the Milky Way.
