Pandora is the F Ring's other shepherd moon alongside Prometheus: while Prometheus helps keep the ring in place, Pandora tends to disrupt it.
Discovered by the Voyager 1 science team in October 1980.
A potato-shaped body whose surface is coated in fine, dust-sized icy material, blanketing even its impact craters.
Its surface is crossed by grooves and ridges.
Named in 1985 after Pandora of Greek mythology, whose curiosity released both misfortune and hope into the world.
