Austrian · 2005–2026
In November 2004, Red Bull bought the near-bankrupt Jaguar Racing from Ford for a token sum of one dollar, in exchange for committing 400 million dollars of investment over three seasons. The team scored 34 points on its debut at the 2005 Australian Grand Prix, more than Jaguar had managed in 2003 and 2004 combined. Adrian Newey joined from McLaren in late 2005 as technical director, and his chassis designs became the foundation of the team's dominance from 2010 onward. After David Coulthard's third place at Monaco in 2006, the team's first podium, principal Christian Horner famously jumped into the harbour pool wearing only a red cape. Sebastian Vettel took Red Bull's first race win at the rain-hit 2009 Chinese Grand Prix. Red Bull became the first Austrian team to win the Constructors' Championship in 2010, then repeated the feat three more times in a row through 2013. At the 2013 Malaysian Grand Prix, Vettel ignored the 'Multi 21' team order and overtook teammate Mark Webber, sparking a lasting rift within the team. Red Bull has been competing in Formula 1 since 2005 as an Austrian team. Red Bull won the Constructors' Championship 6 times, in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2022, 2023. The team scored a total of 8518 constructors' championship points.
