Thai · 2019–2026
Alexander Albon was born in London to a Thai mother and a British father and races under a Thai licence - he is Formula 1's first Thai driver since Prince Bira in the 1950s. He finished third in the 2018 Formula 2 championship, behind George Russell and Lando Norris. He made his debut with Toro Rosso in 2019, then swapped places with Pierre Gasly at the summer break, before the Belgian Grand Prix, and moved up to Red Bull. His first podium came for Red Bull at the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix, where he finished third at Mugello. Sergio Perez took his Red Bull seat at the end of 2020, so in 2021 he worked as reserve and test driver and also raced in the DTM; he returned to the grid with Williams from 2022. Alexander Albon has been racing in Formula 1 since 2019 as a Thai driver. He scored a total of 318 championship points over his career. His best season was 2020, when he finished 7th in the championship with 105 points.
