The title was decided between four drivers - Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton - at the season finale in Abu Dhabi, a situation unmatched in modern F1 history. Alonso arrived at the finale with an 8-point lead, but Ferrari's strategy call to cover Webber's early pit stop trapped him behind Vitaly Petrov's Renault, with no way past on Yas Marina's narrow layout. Vettel won the race from pole to flag by over ten seconds and clinched the championship, becoming, at 23 years and 134 days, the youngest world champion in F1 history at the time. The championship lead changed hands eight times over the season's 18 races, reflecting how tightly fought the year was. Sebastian Vettel won the 2010 Drivers' Championship with 256 points (Red Bull), 4 points ahead of the runner-up. Red Bull won the Constructors' Championship with 498 points, 44 points ahead of the runner-up. Across 19 completed races this season, there were 118 retirements. 5 different drivers won a race this season. Sebastian Vettel took the most race wins, 5 in total. Alonso won the season-opening race, the Bahrain Grand Prix. The season's biggest upset win came from Button at the Chinese Grand Prix, starting from grid position 5. The most dominant win of the season came at the Spanish Grand Prix, with a margin of 24.1 seconds. Alonso made the biggest gain of the season at the Monaco Grand Prix, from grid position 24 to finishing 6 (up 18 places). The Monaco Grand Prix saw the most retirements of the season, with 12 drivers failing to finish. The closest finish of the season came at the Singapore Grand Prix, with a gap of just 0.293 seconds. Vettel won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final race of the season.
