He amassed 13 F1 podium finishes without ever winning a race - a record for the most podiums without a victory that still stands. He earned the nickname 'Quick Nick' in 2007, the same year he became the first driver in 31 years to take a current F1 car around the Nürburgring's fearsome Nordschleife, that April. In 2008 he became the first driver since Michael Schumacher in 2002 to finish every single race of a season without a retirement. In 2011 he stepped in at Renault after Robert Kubica's rallying accident ruled him out of the season, scoring his final F1 podium at the Malaysian Grand Prix; after F1 he raced in Formula E (2014-2018) and in endurance racing with Rebellion Racing, winning his class at Le Mans in 2014. Nick Heidfeld made his Formula 1 debut in 2000 and raced until 2011, 12 seasons in total as a German driver. He scored a total of 259 championship points over his career.
