Finnish · 1978–1986
Photo: Hans van Dijk for Anefo Minor restoration by Adam Cuerden: No need to credit me. · CC0Keke Rosberg made a relatively late F1 debut at age 29 in 1978, driving for Theodore Racing in South Africa. He won the 1982 world championship with Williams despite claiming only a single victory all season, the Swiss Grand Prix at Dijon, tying Mike Hawthorn's 1958 record for the fewest wins by a champion. He earned a reputation as a street circuit specialist, with four of his five career wins coming on street courses (Monaco, Dallas, Detroit, Adelaide). His aggressive, late-braking driving style was characteristic of the ground-effect era of Formula One. He managed the career of his son Nico Rosberg from the start; in 2013 they became the first father-son pair to both win at Monaco, thirty years apart, and in 2016, with Nico's title, they became only the second father-son duo (after the Hills) to both become F1 world champions. Keke Rosberg made his Formula 1 debut in 1978 and raced until 1986, 9 seasons in total as a Finnish driver. He won the World Championship once, in 1982. He scored a total of 159.5 championship points over his career.
