Race summary

Verstappen won the race from 2nd on the grid, 7.333s ahead of Vettel. Vettel was the standout mover, climbing from 20th to 2nd. Gasly lost the most ground, from 4th on the grid down to 14th (down 10 places). The safety car was deployed on laps 3-4 and on laps 29-33 and on laps 41-45 and on laps 57-59. A virtual safety car (VSC) period was in effect on laps 15-16 and on laps 27-28. It was already raining at the start. The winner made 5 pit stops: on lap 3 (wet → intermediate), on lap 25 (intermediate → medium), on lap 29 (medium → intermediate), on lap 41 (intermediate → intermediate), on lap 46 (intermediate → soft). The fastest pit stop went to Verstappen (Red Bull) on lap 46, with 19.0s pit lane time. Verstappen set the fastest lap, in 1:16.645.
