Alain Prost clinched his fourth and final title at the Portuguese Grand Prix, then immediately announced his retirement from F1 the same weekend. Senna, racing without Honda power for the first time in six years, delivered one of the drives of his career in the rain at Donington Park: passing four rivals on the opening lap and winning with just five pit stops to Prost's seven. It was the last season of F1's "active era" before the FIA banned electronic driver aids for 1994 - Williams's active suspension and traction control reached their technical peak here. Senna signed with Williams for the following year, finally joining the team that had so often beaten him. Alain Prost won the 1993 Drivers' Championship with 99 points (Williams), 26 points ahead of the runner-up. Williams won the Constructors' Championship with 168 points, 84 points ahead of the runner-up.
