Jules Bianchi died on 17 July 2015, nine months after his Suzuka crash, having never woken from his coma - the first F1 driver to lose his life from a racing accident since Ayrton Senna in 1994. Sebastian Vettel's move to Ferrari paid off immediately at just the second race of the season, the Malaysian Grand Prix, where a surprise win broke Mercedes' unbeaten start. Vettel won the Hungarian Grand Prix five days after Bianchi's funeral and dedicated the victory to his late compatriot. Hamilton secured his third world title with a race to spare at the United States Grand Prix, ultimately finishing the season 59 points clear of Rosberg. Lewis Hamilton won the 2015 Drivers' Championship with 381 points (Mercedes), 59 points ahead of the runner-up. Mercedes won the Constructors' Championship with 703 points, 275 points ahead of the runner-up. Across 19 completed races this season, there were 81 retirements. 3 different drivers won a race this season. Lewis Hamilton took the most race wins, 10 in total. Hamilton won the season-opening race, the Australian Grand Prix. The closest finish of the season came at the Chinese Grand Prix, with a gap of just 0.714 seconds.
