This was the last season of the V8 engine era before the 2014 switch to turbo-hybrid power units, and the Red Bull RB9 closed it out as one of the most dominant cars in F1 history. At the Malaysian Grand Prix, Vettel ignored the "Multi 21" team order to hold position behind Mark Webber and passed him for the win, creating lasting tension inside Red Bull. Starting with the Belgian Grand Prix after the summer break, Vettel won nine consecutive races, matching Alberto Ascari's 60-year-old record, and his 13 wins for the season equalled Michael Schumacher's single-season record. Mark Webber ended his 215-race Formula 1 career at the season-closing Brazilian Grand Prix before moving on to the World Endurance Championship. Sebastian Vettel won the 2013 Drivers' Championship with 397 points (Red Bull), 155 points ahead of the runner-up. Red Bull won the Constructors' Championship with 596 points, 236 points ahead of the runner-up. Across 19 completed races this season, there were 64 retirements. 5 different drivers won a race this season. Sebastian Vettel took the most race wins, 13 in total. Räikkönen won the season-opening race, the Australian Grand Prix. The season's biggest upset win came from Räikkönen at the Australian Grand Prix, starting from grid position 7. The Monaco Grand Prix saw the most retirements of the season, with 7 drivers failing to finish. The closest finish of the season came at the British Grand Prix, with a gap of just 0.765 seconds. The most dominant win of the season came at the Singapore Grand Prix, with a margin of 32.6 seconds. Grosjean made the biggest gain of the season at the Indian Grand Prix, from grid position 17 to finishing 3 (up 14 places). Vettel won the Brazilian Grand Prix, the final race of the season.
