He won the 2024 Formula 2 feature race at Monza from last on the grid, the first driver in the series' history to do so. He signed with McLaren's Driver Development Programme in October 2023 and even tested an MCL36 at the Red Bull Ring in September 2024, yet ultimately made his F1 debut with Sauber/Audi instead. On his 2025 Australian Grand Prix debut he reached Q2, outqualifying more experienced teammate Nico Hulkenberg. He scored his first points at the Austrian Grand Prix, becoming the first Brazilian to score in F1 since 2017. He stayed with the team through its 2026 Audi rebrand and delivered the manufacturer's first points of the new era at that year's Australian Grand Prix. Gabriel Bortoleto has been racing in Formula 1 since 2025 as a Brazilian driver. He scored a total of 29 championship points over his career. His best season was 2026, when he finished 14th in the championship with 10 points.
