His middle name 'Kimi' wasn't inspired by Kimi Räikkönen despite the coincidence - a family friend, Enrico Bertaggia, suggested it to his father as a foreign-sounding complement to 'Andrea.' In 2020, two weeks after turning 14, he became the youngest-ever senior European Karting Champion, despite breaking his tibia and metatarsus that same year after colliding with Maya Weug's stationary kart in wet conditions at the Karting World Championship final in Portimão. He dominated Italian F4 in 2022 with a then-rookie-record 13 wins and claimed the German ADAC F4 title, then won gold at the FIA Motorsport Games while racing with a broken left wrist. He joined Mercedes' Junior Team at just 12 years old in April 2019, and in 2025 stepped into Lewis Hamilton's seat as the third-youngest driver ever to debut in Formula 1. He became the highest-scoring rookie in F1 history during his 2025 debut season with three podiums, then in 2026 became the youngest pole-sitter in F1 history at the Chinese Grand Prix, won eight races including Monza - the first Italian to win there in sixty years - and achieved the youngest-ever grand slam at Monaco. Andrea Kimi Antonelli has been racing in Formula 1 since 2025 as an Italian driver. He scored a total of 442 championship points over his career.
