SKY EVENT · Meteor shower peak
The Leonids meteor shower peaks on 17 November 2029 around 18:17 UTC. Under dark skies and ideal conditions up to ~15 meteors per hour can be seen (ZHR). The radiant, the point in the sky the meteors seem to come from, is at about 10.1 hours right ascension and 22° declination.
Visibility from Hungary (calculated for Budapest): the best moment to observe is 18 November 2029, 05:32 CET: the target stands 64° high in the south, under a dark sky. The calculation is for Budapest; elsewhere in the country rise and set times differ by only a few minutes.
In the page's interactive 3D model the time machine jumps to this moment (17 November 2029) and the camera takes the view that fits the event: a sky view from the visitor's city or Budapest. You can freely scrub time forwards and backwards.
Meteor shower peaks are computed from the Sun’s ecliptic longitude, based on the IMO meteor calendar.
