Photo: Byxelized · CC0At age nine he received his first go-kart as a gift from neighbour Michael Schumacher, and went on to win the Australian Karting Championship in both 2015 and 2016. His father Mick Doohan is a five-time 500cc motorcycle world champion; Jack began in Red Bull's junior programme before switching to the Alpine Academy in 2022. He made his F1 debut at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, taking over from the departing Esteban Ocon and becoming the first Alpine Academy graduate to reach F1. His 2025 season started roughly, with a first-lap crash in the wet at the Australian Grand Prix followed by back-to-back ten-second penalties in China. After six rounds without a point, Alpine advisor Flavio Briatore began openly discussing replacing him with Franco Colapinto, saying he would swap out any driver who wasn't delivering results. He was demoted to reserve mid-2025 and parted ways with Alpine altogether in early 2026, continuing as Haas's reserve driver and racing LMP2 for Nielsen Racing. Jack Doohan made his Formula 1 debut in 2024 and raced until 2025, 2 seasons in total as an Australian driver. His best season was 2025, when he finished 21st in the championship with 0 points.
