Photo: Yu Chu Chin · CC BY-SA 4.0He moved to Italy alone at 14 to pursue his racing career, after his father had already sold a house to help fund an earlier junior season. He made his Williams debut mid-2024 at the Italian Grand Prix, replacing Logan Sargeant, becoming the first Argentine driver in F1 since Gaston Mazzacane in 2001. His points finish in Azerbaijan made him the first Argentine to score in Formula One since Carlos Reutemann at the 1982 South African Grand Prix. He suffered an impact of roughly 50g in Las Vegas Grand Prix qualifying, forcing him to start that race from the pit lane. He began 2025 as Alpine's reserve driver, then took over Jack Doohan's race seat after six rounds. His defensive move at the start of the 2026 Australian Grand Prix drew praise from George Russell as the 'save of the season,' and Alpine extended his contract through 2027. Franco Colapinto has been racing in Formula 1 since 2024 as an Argentine driver. He scored a total of 32 championship points over his career. His best season was 2026, when he finished 12th in the championship with 27 points.
