We don't have our own real GPS-telemetry-based 3D model for this circuit (typically a pre-2023 or discontinued venue). Ferrari withdrew from the rest of the weekend, and later that year the circuit in Montreal was renamed in Villeneuve's memory. The circuit opened on 19 June 1963, designed by John Hugenholtz, the same Dutch designer later behind Suzuka, and was previously also known as Circuit Terlaemen. Formula 1 first raced here in 1973, after the Belgian Grand Prix had briefly been held at the Nivelles-Baulers circuit. Ahead of that 1973 debut, the track surface had broken up so badly that Jackie Stewart, François Cevert and Emerson Fittipaldi inspected it and refused to race until emergency resurfacing was carried out just a week before the Grand Prix; Stewart went on to win. That same 1973 race brought Niki Lauda the first championship points of his career, a fifth-place finish in a BRM. After 1982 the Belgian Grand Prix moved to Spa-Francorchamps, returned to Zolder once more in 1984, won by Michele Alboreto's Ferrari carrying Villeneuve's old number 27, before settling permanently at Spa from 1985 onward. The circuit is located in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium. Formula 1 has raced here since 1973, with 10 races held so far, most recently in 1984. The first race here was won by Jackie Stewart, in 1973. The most recent winner here was Michele Alboreto, in 1984. Niki Lauda has won here more than anyone else, 2 times. Among constructors, Ferrari has been the most successful here, with 4 wins.
