We don't have our own real GPS-telemetry-based 3D model for this circuit (typically a pre-2023 or discontinued venue). The outline below is a freely usable, hand-drawn circuit diagram. This layout was in use during: 1955,1957,1959,1961-1962.Circuit diagram: ROY Jules (julesr0y) (CC BY 4.0). source & licenseOther known layouts at this circuit: 1955,1957,1959,1961-1962The track was built in 1954 inside the Aintree Racecourse, home of the famous Grand National, using the same grandstands as horse racing; it earned the nickname 'Goodwood of the North' for its resemblance to the Sussex circuit. It hosted the British Grand Prix five times (1955, 1957, 1959, 1961, 1962), alternating with Silverstone. The 1955 British Grand Prix became one of the most celebrated moments in British motorsport: Stirling Moss won in a Mercedes for his first world championship race victory, though it remains debated to this day whether teammate Juan Manuel Fangio let him win. The 1957 British Grand Prix, also billed as that year's European Grand Prix and watched by 150,000 spectators, was won by a Vanwall shared between Stirling Moss and Tony Brooks; it was not only the first World Championship win for a British constructor and British engine, but also the last time a Grand Prix was won by two drivers sharing a car. The 1961 British Grand Prix, Moss's last home race before the career-ending crash that followed soon after, was run in torrential rain and won by Wolfgang von Trips for a dominant Ferrari; it proved to be von Trips's final victory before his fatal accident at Monza weeks later. The circuit's fate was ultimately sealed by a restrictive covenant from a 1949 land sale limiting the site to agricultural or horse-racing use; the full Grand Prix circuit hosted its last race in 1964, and the site remains a racecourse with a smaller circuit to this day. The circuit is located in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Formula 1 has raced here since 1955, with 5 races held so far, most recently in 1962. The first race here was won by Stirling Moss, in 1955. The most recent winner here was Jim Clark, in 1962.
