We don't have our own real GPS-telemetry-based 3D model for this circuit (typically a pre-2023 or discontinued venue). The 1958 race was the championship-deciding season finale between Mike Hawthorn and Stirling Moss: Moss could only take the title by winning, setting fastest lap, and having Hawthorn finish no higher than third. Moss did win, but Hawthorn's second place was enough to make him Britain's first Formula 1 World Champion. On lap 41, Stuart Lewis-Evans's Vanwall suffered an engine seizure and caught fire; he suffered severe burns, was flown back to England, and died eight days later. It remains the only World Championship race Morocco has ever hosted, and the venue never returned to the calendar after the tragedy. That same weekend, Vanwall clinched the first-ever Formula 1 Constructors' Championship, becoming the first British team to do so, turning the Moroccan finale into both a celebration and a tragedy in one afternoon. Mike Hawthorn retired from racing almost immediately after clinching the title, then died in a road accident barely three months later, in January 1959, making the Ain-Diab race the final chapter of his Formula 1 career. You'll find it in Casablanca, Morocco. Only one Formula 1 race has been held here so far, in 1958, won by Stirling Moss.
The only Formula 1 race held here (1958) was won by Stirling Moss.
